ISO/IEC 18041-Information technology — Computer graphics, image processing and environmental data representation — Environmental Data Coding Specification (EDCS) language bindings

ISO/IEC 18041-Information technology — Computer graphics, image processing and environmental data representation — Environmental Data Coding Specification (EDCS) language bindings provides a binding between the EDCS language specification and ISO/IEC 9899:1999, Information technology — Programming languages — C, second edition. It was developed with the collaboration of several companies, including AMD, Microsoft Corporation, NVIDIA Corporation, Oracle Corporation and SAP AG.

What is ISO/IEC 18041?

This Standard is a specification for an image data coding standard that can be used to encode environmental data. The specification defines a binding of the ECS language to ISO/IEC 18045, which is the core image data coding standard.

Environmental data refers to data that represents environmental conditions such as weather, climate, and vegetation. This data can be used to help businesses make informed decisions about their operations.

Moreover, ISO/IEC 18041 is intended to help businesses encode environmental data into images. The specification defines a binding of the ECS language to ISO/IEC 18045, which is the main image data coding standard. This makes it easy for businesses to encode environmental data into images using existing software development tools and infrastructure.

The specification also provides guidelines for how to best represent environmental data in images. Thus, these guidelines help ensure that images encoded with ISO/IEC 18041 are accurate and useful.

The specification is currently under development by the ISO TC 211 working group. So, the working group is actively seeking feedback from industry stakeholders on the specification.

ISO/IEC 18041-4:2016 Information technology — Computer graphics, image processing and environmental data representation — Environmental Data Coding Specification (EDCS) language bindings — Part 4: C

The ISO/IEC 18041-4:2016 Information technology — Computer graphics, image processing and environmental data representation — Environmental Data Coding Specification (EDCS) language bindings — Part 4: C defines a C-based programming interface to the EDCS. This document specifies the syntax and semantics of the EDCS language, as well as the associated library functions.

ISO/IEC DIS 18041-5 Information technology — Computer graphics, image processing and environmental data representation — Environmental Data Coding Specification (EDCS) language bindings — Part 5: C++

The Environmental Data Coding Specification (EDCS) language bindings provide an interface between the standard-5 and various coding schemes used by environmental data providers. Thus, this document specifies the C language bindings.

The C language bindings allow you to work with environmental data in a portable way. You can use them to create applications that process, display or store environmental data.

Therefore, The C language bindings are designed for use with the standard-5 environment. They provide a convenient way to access many of the features of the environment. Such as object-oriented programming and internationalization support.
